Sewing Sunday: Seamwork Astoria (Un)Wearable Muslin

Sewing Sunday: Seamwork Astoria (Un)Wearable Muslin

I’m obsessed. This week I’ve been unable to get to sleep two nights out of seven because I just couldn’t stop thinking about sewing. The intricacies of sewing bags, how to get the perfect fit on clothing… it’s driving me bonkers! One pattern that has been haunting my sleep is the Seamwork Astoria, the myriad of mistakes I made when I sewed it up first time around, and how to rectify them next time.

I actually made this top in August, but I have yet to blog about it because I don’t want to admit my mistakes to you all because I’ve been so busy, but the time has come to fess up. Read on to find out how I ruined this lovely pattern…

Sewing Sunday: Custom-Made Labels from Woven Labels UK

Sewing Sunday: Custom-Made Labels from Woven Labels UK

Note: When I initially posted this, I accidentally set the visibility to ‘private’. I have no idea how I managed to do that and not realise until nearly two weeks later! So here you have a(n accidentally) late Sewing Sunday post. Enjoy!

This is just a quick Sewing Sunday post today, simply because I’ve been so busy with revision lately I haven’t had time to make anything!

I love everything about making my own clothes, apart from putting them in the machine for their first wash – I get so nervous that all my stitching will come undone, or the fabric will go bobbly, or the colour will fade. Another concern is that they’ll accidentally get washed at the wrong temperature and shrink, which would be an easy mistake to make if they don’t have any labels. Therefore, I ordered some labels to alleviate these fears and this post will be a review of those labels, eventually. But first, a story… View Full Post

Makeup Revolution Amazing Lipstick – Rebel With Cause

Makeup Revolution Amazing Lipstick - Rebel With Cause

What can you buy for £1 nowadays? Most newspapers cost over £1, as do magazines and TV guides. A 500ml drink would push you over £1 in most places. Bus tickets for £1 or less? I wish! Back in the day I could go into to the newsagents with £1 and leave a very happy girl, with a (free) carrier bag full of all my favourite sweets and a newspaper for my parents… the good ol’ days of the early noughties, eh?

Before I digress any further, the point I’m trying to make is that it’s hard to get anything half decent for a quid nowadays. Step up Makeup Revolution!

Makeup Revolution have taken the beauty blogging world by storm in the last couple of years, thanks to their high quality and undeniable value for money. One of my favourite products from Makeup Revolution is the Amazing Lipstick in a shade called Rebel With Cause and it costs – you guessed it – just £1!

Sewing Sunday: DIY Tote Bags

Sewing Sunday: DIY Tote Bags

Ever since I first thought of making these tote bags as Christmas table favours I’ve been dying to blog about them, but I didn’t want to risk spoiling the surprise for my family. Now it’s 2016 I can finally post about these babies!

This Christmas, inspired by my bestie Beth who handmade all of her gifts to people, I decided to make each of my family members a personalised present just for them. Since the government introduced a 5p charge for single use carrier bags, I’ve found that there’s no such thing as having too many reusable shopping bags. Therefore, I thought it would be a nice idea to make everyone roomy, strong, reversible but compact fold-up tote bags.
