With 2015 almost at a close, it seems like the perfect time to review my year of blogging on Poppy alla Norma. There have been 52 blog posts uploaded in the last 12 months, and I thoroughly enjoyed writing all of them – taking and editing the photographs, not so much…
It’s crazy to think that complete strangers from all over the world are interested in reading what I have to write on my li’l corner of the internet, so I just want to thank each and every one of you who read Poppy alla Norma, leave comments and follow me on Twitter, Instagram, Bloglovin’ and Pinterest. It’s so lovely to know that people like you actually read this blog, and I truly appreciate every single view, comment and share on social media. The blogging community is wonderful, and I’ve spoken to so many lovely people I otherwise would have never have met. This blog has been such a big part of my year, and I hope it continues for many years to come.
Anyways, enough of the mushy stuff, let’s have a look at the most popular posts on Poppy alla Norma from the past year!
Candles, melts, tarts… whatever you call them, they smell good and they’re so fun to photograph with all their gorgeous colours! I must admit that I only kept my Melt Crowd subscription for two months and I still have a couple of melts left in my drawer, but I am getting through them slowly but surely. I had to bin the Donuts melt from the August box straight away though, it smelt DISGUSTING and the bag still smells of it nearly six months later! I’d still recommend the subscription, you probably just need to have a slightly smaller candle stash than I already do. I will definitely order myself the Parma Violet candle at some point in 2016, my house just has to smell like violets!
Well… that didn’t last long, did it? I think e.l.f. was unavailable in the UK for around 3 months(?) before a new UK site appeared, which ships from the USA and takes a little longer to arrive. Oh well, at least we can buy it! That kind of makes my 4th most popular post a little redundant now, but if you’re after some e.l.f. recommendations then it’s still worth checking out. I still use all five of the featured products on an almost daily basis, the only one that has fallen out of my daily routine is the High Definition Powder. Ever since I discovered the wonder that is make-up setting spray I’ve been using it as the last step of my make-up routine instead of the HD Powder. I still haven’t found a decent dupe of the Zit Zapping Concealer…
Awwww, how cute does my boyf look in that floral headband? I’m intending to rewrite this post at some point in the next year because my best friend has come up with a neater way of attaching the elastic to the fabric, so if you enjoyed this post then make sure to stay tuned for the update! I love making these headbands – they’re quick to make, simple to sew and they just look so adorable on. I haven’t made one for a while, but seeing this post in my top 5 has inspired me to get back to the sewing machine!
You may well recognise this fabric from the post above – what can I say, I’m a lover of matching sets. This was the first thing I made after the class that started a love affair with fabric, patterns and sewing. Despite how simple it was to make I’m still pretty proud of this skirt, and I’ll definitely be making something similar again in the future. Experience has taught me one thing though: POCKETS. Everything I make from now on absolutely must have pockets! I really enjoyed making this skirt, and I’m glad so many of you enjoyed reading about it.
There you have it, my most popular post of 2015! I’m not at all surprised the post about Makeup Revolution got the most views out of all the Poppy alla Norma posts, simply because of how popular the brand seems to have become in the last year. Writing this post has given me such respect for beauty bloggers because I honestly didn’t realise how much effort goes into reviewing cosmetics. It takes an absolute age to swatch eyeshadow palettes both with and without primer, photograph the swatches, rub them off your arm so you can swatch more colours, repeat the process over and over, edit the photos to convey the colours properly and finally actually do some writing about them. There should be a beauty blogger appreciation day to celebrate their efforts! Despite how long it took to write, I really enjoyed creating this post. I know how useful beauty reviews can be when you spot a product in Superdrug and need to quickly search your phone for reviews about it!
So, what does 2016 hold for Poppy alla Norma?
There’s lots of great blog posts coming your way in the new year! As well as having an exciting collaboration or two in the pipeline, I intend to do lots more Sewing Sunday posts and beauty reviews in 2016, so make sure to keep your eyes peeled for those. As always, the best way to stay up-to-date with Poppy alla Norma is to follow on Bloglovin’:
I hope you all have a wonderful new year!
Until next time,
